About Me

My name is Richie Gowin and I’m a Christian.Currently, I am a senior (by units, junior by year) at Biola University. I went to Cedar Park Christian School from Kindergarten all the way through senior year. Eight people from my class of 87, along with another friend from Northshore Baptist (my home church since I was born), are down here in Southern California at Biola. I lived in Washington all my life with my family of five, and then the addition of my brother-in-law.
My parents met at Biola and graduated in 1979; 30 years later I walked on campus for the first time as a student. My two older sisters went to George Fox University. Down here at Biola I am a double majoring in Business and Bible as well as participating in the Torrey Honors Institute. Business is a large major, and alongside with Bible it will take me five years to graduate, but it’s well worth it. Torrey is an intensive great books program that takes alot of work, but yields alot of reward. Business and Bible are great majors for a future youth pastor, since a church is a business with a very tight budget. As for housing, I am currently living in the smallest and most community centered dorm, Emerson: Home of Men. It’s the only all male dorm, but it’s centrally located, so there’s always guys and girls around. It’s alot of fun being down here in California, making new friends, doing new things, going to fun places, but it’s also alot of work and sometimes stressful. Sometimes things don’t turn out the way I expect them to. But above all, God has a perfect plan to bring himself the most glory and He is using us here to bring about His kingdom on earth.
