The Biola Journey of a Business/Bible major and Torrey student

Working overtime

A week has passed and now I have time to work on the blog. I’ve been busy with other stuff, and I still have stuff to do, but I figure I should take some time to update this.
Sunday Night: That night I got to see Caleb and Ellie who was visiting from Concordia. I was nice to see another face from CPCS. Caleb, Greg, and I all live in Emerson, so I see all my guy friends from home pretty often. Afterwards I went to Singspo and Soul Care Ministry did our first ministry event. We were just prayer people on the sides and some people came up, but it was pretty new so most of us didn’t get anybody to come up to us. That night I spent reading Thucydides and went to bed. The next day I managed to get up for chapel and have a good Torrey session. The rest of the day was devoted to studying for my accounting exam, writing a paper for First Year Seminar, and finding out how to sleep (which I didn’t get alot of).
Tuesday: The exam went well. I didn’t find it super difficult, and I would find out how well I did on Thursday. During my first year sem class I asked the teacher about my schedule and she told me to make an appointment to find out what I was going to do about my double major. Business Stats was normal. After classes I went to TNL (Tuesday Night Live, the junior high small groups at WACC). We started off by playing a few games of dodge ball, nation ball style, and then broke up into groups. Chris, Daniel, and my group seemed to have doubled… and have had sugar for dinner. We managed to get some stuff done and then went back for worship and closing stuff. At 10 I had soul groups and then headed back to my dorm at 11. By that time I was exhausted, but I had reading for Torrey to do. I debated whether I should do it then or in the morning, and, for my health, I did it in the morning (I had plenty of time).
Wednesday: I not only finished my book, but I also went to chapel and went to my academic advisor and found out that I have to change my path through college. I have a few options, but I’m going to discuss them with my parents with my advisor before I make any official choice. Session went well, except that I was still feeling out of it, so I didn’t have as much input as normal, though I wasn’t lacking. I made sure to get lots of sleep that day.
Thursday: Finally, the last day of the week. I didn’t have any more big things taking up my time so I was able to go to classes and relax. I got a 95% on my Accounting exam, and that’s a hard class. I talked to my advisor, who’s my first year sem teacher, about how another student had the same double major as me and what he had done (he dropped one of them). Business Stats was again normal and uneventful, but after that it was the weekend! I slept and stuff and that night Sam and I went to see Toy Story 1 and 2 in 3D in Downtown Disney! Sam was afraid that they would be sold out, so we went at 8 and found out there was no line and they had plenty of tickets (we may have been the first people to get them). Because we got there early we would have to pay for parking because we could only get 5 hours for free.
We spent an hour and a half going through the Lego store and the Disney Store. We tried on hats, saw some books, watched a magic trick, the works.

After all that we decided to go into the theater. We showed our tickets and the lady said, “Your theater is number 6 on the left”. We went on in, because that’s what she told us to do. Well, they don’t just let theaters sit around empty for three hours, especially 3D ones, so we got to watch Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs for free! It was the most amazing movie EVER! And on top of that we got to see both Toy Story movies and the newest trailer for the 3rd one where Andy goes off to college! As a bonus when we left we didn’t have to pay the $20 for parking because it was so late! YAH!

Friday: I slept in till the Soul Care chapel where we broke up into prayer teams. After that I went back to bed till my ultimate frisbee game, that we lost, and then I took another nap. The rest of the day was pretty slow. I think Sam and I hung out in Jason’s room and went to the store, but that’s about it.
Saturday: FAD workshop! Part of WACC’s youth ministry is a biannual event called FAD. It’s where kids invite their friends to games and challenges to compete to go to Magic Mountain for FREE! We’ve been working on the decorations for a few weeks, and I must say we have some good decorations. I may have gotten some filler stuck to my arm, but even after the pain it was fun. That night was another relaxing night with Sunshine and Sam watching some TV.
Sunday: WACC in the morning, lunch, and then WACC tonight. I have to do some reading for tomorrow, so that’s all for this post. God is still helping me get used to Biola and the way people are. It’s different than home, but I love Biola and God is the greatest constant.
