The Biola Journey of a Business/Bible major and Torrey student

SOS week: The last day of summer

Today started out early with breakfast and devotionals. We sat in the secret study place on campus and Derek, my SOS leader, read from Genesis chapter four about Cain and Able and then read a passage out of East of Eden by John Steinbeck. The passage talked about how man has, must, or may have the ability to conquer sin. It was a really cool insight and I can not do it justice here, or without the passage from the book. From there we went to seminars that lasted from 9:00 to 12:30. We learned about stuff like campus safety, health, spiritual and chapel expectations, and some other stuff. I even went to a seminar about Biola traditions. After that I walked back to the dorm and took an amazing nap.
Sometime later I went to meet your major, but Bible wasn’t meeting so I just went to the business one, but only a few people were there. They were pretty nice people and this girl, steph, was from Seattle too and knew some of my friends. After that I just chilled until the commencement dinner. The dinner tonight was really well done. We got dressed up and had chicken, mashed potatoes, and other good food, topping it off with cheese cake. The speaker was one of the Bible teachers, which I may never have, but he was really funny. Tonight we had worship outside of Horton, but it was concluded because we had to abide by La Mirada’s quiet hours, which start at ten. Our pour RA’s had to stop it and felt find of bad and were joking about writing an incident report of “breaking up a worship night”. Finally, tonight we heard a loud noise and ran over to find our neighbor’s bunk bed on the ground. Today was a good day, but tomorrow classes start. Summer is over and now this new chapter has begun.
